Gadchiroli Feb. 13 (District Correspondent) Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Council Ambadas Danwe has strongly criticized the state government over its ‘hollow promises of employment and development’ saying the govt. is just making the big announcements but doing nothing. There are so many unemployed youths in the district and they are required to be given employment. The government is applying salt on the wounds of the unemployed youths and there is a strong discontent among these youths, he said.
Addressing a press conference at the Circuit House here this afternoon during his day long tour of the district, Mr. Danwe pointed out that in Gadchiroli district’s Surjagad Project not a single local person has been given direct employment. The youths have been employed as ordinary labourers. The government should impart skill training to the local youths and provide them skilled jobs in the industry, he demanded. The industry is being run just to adjust some industrialists, he alleged.
As many as 212 villages in interior parts of the district have no any connectivity till date. The District Hospital has no MRI machine and the patients have to be sent to other districts for the check-up, he told demanding that the district should have at least 2 such machines. He also pointed out that 55 village panchayats in the district do not have their buildings.
All this shows that the government is not paying any attention towards the problems of the people and is busy in just making the announcements.
A total of 15,754 forest rights claims have been rejected by the administration and these claims should be re verified soon. After according forest rights, the concerned land should be transferred on the 7-12 extracts, Danwe demanded.
There is no control of any government machinery on the huge amount of iron ore transport out of the state. The valuable raw material in the district is being taken away without any benefit to the local people. The iron ore should be used for the industries in the district, he demanded. Similar smuggling of sand also is being done, he pointed out and asked whether all this smuggling is being allowed to be done deliberately for the benefit of the few people.
A large scale illicit liquor also is being sold in the district and the hard earned money of the poor people is being spent on liquor. This should be stopped immediately. There is a need of creating public awareness about solar energy. Load shedding also is a big issue, Danwe said.
The plights of farmers, youths have become very pitiable with no jobs, better health facilities and the government should address these serious issues immediately or else Shiv Sena will have to launch an agitation, Danwe warned.
Also present at the press conference were Mr. Kishor Potdar, Contact Chief, Wasudeo Shedmake, Surendrasingh Chandel, District Shiv Sena chiefs, Shivajirao Zore, Vijay Kadam, Arvind Katratwar, Vilas Kodap, Joint contact chief, Ms. Chhayatai Kumbhare, Women’s wing chief.
