Social organizations urge Gondwana University to follow secular approach.

Gadchiroli Dec. 19 (District correspondent) Various social organizations of the city have urged the Gondwana University administration maintain secular approach in the University and to work for the interests of the deprived and backward classes of the society.

A delegation of these organizations met the Vice chancellor of the University Dr. Prashant Bokare in his office recently and submitted him a memorandum in this regard.

Gondwana University being a constitutional institution established by law, the values ​​of the Indian Constitution are expected to be strictly preserved within the premises of this institution. Since secularism is a very important value of the Indian constitution, care should be taken to ensure that no worship of any deity takes place in the university premises, it was demanded. The programmes should be started with garlanding the portraits of social reformers, it was demanded.

‘Dr. Ambedkar Thoughts’ and ‘Buddhist Studies’  courses should be started at Degree and Post Graduate level, The University should immediately start ‘Adivasi Adhyayan Kendra’ for social, cultural and historical study of tribal society, to prepare the competitive examination for the boys and girls of scheduled caste and tribe who are taking higher education, centres of ‘Dr.  Babasaheb Ambedkar Research and Training Institute’ and ‘Tribal Research and Training Institute’ should be started in the university premises and accommodation of such students should be arranged in the hostel of the university, the university should start a special fellowship for students doing research on various problems of Scheduled Castes, Tribes, and Nomadic Tribes etc.

The memorandum also demanded that in order to ensure that no injustice is done to the backward class employee working in the university, a ‘Social Justice and Equal Opportunity’ cell should be immediately established in the university and a backward class employee should be appointed in this cell, conscious attention should be paid to teaching humanities degree and post-graduate courses on behalf of the university’s Adarsh ​​Mahavidyhya while appointing  various authorities and boards of the university in nominated manner, keeping in mind social justice and equal opportunity values, qualified backward class persons should be preferentially appointed and a new ideal should be created.

As the present building is not adequate to run the post graduate classes of the teacher efficiently and this is causing educational loss to the students, classes should be started in the rented building immediately, it was also demanded.

While submitting a memorandum Mr. rohidas Raut of the All Indian Republican Party, Dr. Dilip Barsagde, Director of SPARSH Sanstha, Vilas Nimborkar of Maha Anis, Hansraj Undirwade of AIRP, Raj Bansod of BRSP, Janardhan Taksande and Ashok Wanjari of Bharat Mukti Morcha, Ms. Vibha Umre of Maitri Sangh, Johny Somankar of Vanchit Aghadi, Milind Bambole, Pradeep Bhaisare, Purushottam Ramteke, Pratik Dange, Adv. Bhavana Khobragade, Shobha Khobragade, Vitthalrao Kothare, Rajan Borkar, Mandip Gordwar and other activists were present.
