Gadchiroli Jan. 8 (District correspondent) A teacher of the city’s municipal school was killed in a ghastly mishap that took place on Saturday evening just in front of the police station. The name of the woman teacher is given as Priya Dhait (Salwe). She was 35.
According to reports, Ms. Dhait was going on her scooty to bring her daughter from a tuition class on Chandrapur road. She was caught under a truck that was going from the same direction and was badly injured.
The teacher was rushed to the district hospital but she breathed her last during the treatment. The last rites were performed on her this afternoon in presence of her relatives, colleagues and friends. The untimely demise of Ms. Dhait is being mourned here.
The accident has once again brought to fore the worst traffic situation being caused due to extreme delay in the construction of national highway passing through the city, growing encroachment of the road side shop keepers and traffic system that has been causing such mishaps for the last few years. The concerned departments and the administration must act swiftly take necessary steps in this regard, it is demanded.
