Gadchiroli Sept. 12 (District Correspondent) ‘The day on which the poor, Adiwasis and Dalits will join the main stream of the society and stand on their own feet will be the important day for me’, said Mr. Arvind Saokar Poreddiwar, senior cooperatives leader while speaking at the public felicitation accorded to him by the DCC Bank and social, political organizations of the district here this afternoon.

Mr. Poreddiwar was accorded a grand felicitation at the meeting hall of the DCC Bank here as he was recently bestowed upon the Jeevan Guarav award by Maharashtra State cooperative Banks Association.

Mr. Ashok Nete, MP presided over the programme while Dr. Deorao Holi, MLA from Gadchiroli, Krishna Gajbhe, MLA from Armori, Prancheet Poreddiwar, chairman of DCC Bank, Kishan Nagdewe, ex-president of BJP, Prashant Waghre, district president of BJP, Pramod Pipre, Prakash Gedam, senior BJP leaders, Hemant Jambewar, district chief of Shiv Sena (Shinde), Pavan Narnawre, Municipal chief of Armori, Shashikant Salwe, Chairman of APMC, Pasewar, Mr. Satish Ayalwar, CEO of the DCC Bank were prominently present.

Mr. Poreddiwar further said I never did the politics of crowd. Now the direction of politics has changed. There is instability in the state politics. Social media is becoming increasingly disastrous and young generation is falling prey to it. Agriculture is getting destroyed. In such a situation we have to work together with those who are with us.

The tribal people who used to live happily earlier are now finding their life difficult. I had sent a proposal to the central govt. to bring the 26 villages in remote Bhamragad area into the main stream of development and the central government has appointed a committee to prepare the plan on it, Poreddiwar said.

The ground level workers are my real strength. When I see the joy on their faces, I too feel joyful. I want to learn many things even at this age and serve the people till the end of my life, Mr. Poreddiwar said.

Mr. Nete, in his presidential speech termed Mr. Poreddiwar as a strong leader who created the political career of many workers and stood solidly behind them. He has made the District Bank well developed and strengthened the cooperative field. The society needs the leaders like him, he added.

The other leaders also spoke on the occasion and mentioned his contribution to the cooperatives and various other fields of life. They extended their best wishes to Mr. Poreddiwar for his future.

The office bearers of various social and political organizations in the district also offered bouquets to Mr. Poreddiwar and congratulated him on the occasion.

Mr. Prancheet Poreddiwar delivered an introductory speech and gave the details of Mr. Arvind Poreddiwar’s works and contribution. Prof. Dr. Narendra Arekar conducted the programme.
