Gadchiroli Feb. 8 (District Correspondent) A special mineral transport carridor is being constructed to transport iron ore to other parts of the state and the country from the integrated steel plant of Lloyds Metals and Energy Ltd. situated at village Konsari in the district.

The Public Works Department has approved the final design of the 84.63 km greenfield highway from Navegaon Mor to Surjagad. A government decision was issued in this regard on February 7 last. District collector Sanjay Meena has informed about this important decision.

Gadchiroli district will be connected to the Hindu Hridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samriddhi Highway as well as the Durg-Hyderabad Access Controlled Expressway proposed by the Central Government to ensure smooth and cost-effective transport of mineral wealth to the developed parts of the state. It will generate employment in Gadchiroli district and promote the overall development of this area, it is expected.

About 15 thousand jobs will be created in the project of Konsari and the social and economic development of the area will take place. Apart from this, the road will help the tribal villages in this area to get immediate benefits of health facilities and other government schemes, it has been stated in the GR of the state government.

Along with Muttapur-Wadlapeth-Velgur-Tola-Yelchil (Ijima) route, Navegaon Mor-Konsari-Mulchera-Headri to Surjagad mine road will be taken up for increasing mineral traffic.
