Gadchiroli March 15 (District Correspondent) Thousands of farmers affected by load shedding on agricultural pump and domestic power supply took out a morcha on the Sub-Divisional Office of Kurkheda the other day. The morcha started from Gandhi Chouk and proceeded to the SDO office shouting slogans against the government and the electricity company and also staged a sit-in protest in front of the office.

Load shedding is being carried out by the electricity department in an arbitrary manner at different places in the taluka. Despite the announced load shedding period, electricity supply is shut down and the people have to face frequent power failures in many places. The electric agricultural pumps are also shut down and the rabi paddy crops are in jeopardy.

Agitated over this crisis, thousands of people and the workers belonging to Maha Vikas Aghadi took out this morcha to express their anguish. The farmers participated in the march in large numbers. There was intense anger against the Sub-Divisional Electrical Engineer of Kurkheda and Section Engineer of Kadholi.

Finally, the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, Vijay Wadettiwar, contacted the present Executive Engineer in front of the marchers and asked him to ensure that load shedding will not be done in the taluka from 6 pm to 6 am, and load shedding will be done on agricultural pumps only for 4 hours a day. The Executive Engineer gave the written assurance in this regard and the protest was called off.

The march was led by MLC Abhijit Vanjari, Congress District President Mahendra Brahmanwade, Shiv Sena Chief Surendra Chandel, State General Secretary of Congress Dr. Namdev Kirsan, Former MLA Anandrao Gedam, Ramdas Masram, former ZP Vice President Manohar Poretti, Kisan Cell chief Wamanrao Savsagade, City President Anitatai Borkar, Congress Taluka President Jeevan Patil Naat,  Jayant Patil Harde, Shiv Sena’s Ashish Kale, ex ZP member Prabhakar Tulavi, Giridhar Titram, Mahila Congress President Ashatai Tulavi,  Rajinikanth Motghare,  Parasram Tikle, Sham Maske and many others were present.
