Movement for justice activists seen leading the protest march

Gadchiroli July 23 (District correspondent) A huge march was taken out by the ‘Movement for Justice’ and various social organizations and political parties in protest against the Manipur tribal women’s stripping and parading and demolishing of an arch named after Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar in Bedag village of Sangli district.

A large number of workers assembled at Indira Square of the city and marched towards the Kargil Chouk winding through main road holding banners and placards and shouting slogans of their demands. The march finally reached back to Indira Square where it was culminated into a protest meeting.

The leaders of various organizations and parties addressed the protest meeting and strongly condemned the incidents of Manipur and Sangli demanding stringent action against those responsible for both these incidents.

Mr. Rohidas Raut, Central vice President of All India Republican Party,  Dr. Dilip Barsagade, Dr. Santosh Suradkar, Devendra Sonpipre (Movement for Justice), Dr. Namdeo Kirsan (Congress), Ms. Kusum Alam, (Adiwasi Mahila Parishad) Bharat Yerme, Sadanand Taram, ( Adiwasi Emplyees Federation), Hansraj Undirwade, Prof. Prakash Dudhe (Republican Party), Com. Deorao chawed (CPI), Raj Bansod (BRSP), Adv. Kavita Mohorkar (Women’s Congress), Munishwar Borkar (PRP),  Prashant Madavi, (Gondwana Gantantra Party), Jayshree Welada (PWP), Dharmanand Meshram, Shyam Ramteke (Social Education Movement), Ejaj Sheikh (Muslim Parishad), Kunal Kowe (Adiwasi Federation), Vilas Nimborkar (ANS), Adv. Sonali Meshram addressed the meeting.

A memorandum addressed to the President of India was then submitted to the Police Station Incharge Arvindkumar Katlam who assured the agitators to forward it to the government. The memorandum demanded early dismissal of Manipur government, enquiry of the incident by the supreme court appointed committee, action against the officers under whose jurisdiction the incident occurred, action against those engaged in demolishing the arch at Begad village and safe return of the Ambedkarite people who left the village following the incident etc.

A large number of activists and citizens participated in the agitation. They included Mr. Tularam Raut, Prof. Gautam Dange (Bhartiya Bouddha Mahasbha), Madhao Gawad, Bhahkar Meshram, Pratik Dange, Sudha Chaudhari (Mali Samaj Sangathana), Adv. Bhawna Lakde, Ms. Surekha Barsagade, Neeta Sahare, Jyoti Undirwade, Wanmala Zade, (Republican Party) Jayshree Yerme, Manisha Madavi, Smita Ladke, Sudha Chaudhari, Pravrutti Walke, and many others participated in this agitation.

The workers of Adiwasi Mahila Federation, Gotul Samiti, Adiwasi Ekta Yuwa Parishad, Castribe, Adiwasi Pardhan Samiti, Satyashodhak Foundation, Sanvidhan Foundation, Swatantra Mazdoor Sangh, Jan Adhikar Manch, Gram Sabha, Samyak Senior Citizens Association, Dhangar Adhikari Karmachari Sangh, Prabuddha Vichar Manch and others participated in the march.
