Gadchiroli Nov. 17 (District Correspondent) The taluka level meeting of the Maharashtra State Asha and Group Promoters Association affiliated to ITUC was organized recently at Korchi under the guidance of State Secretary Com Vinod Zodge.
Taluka Secretary of the CPI Rajiram Uike, Taluka President Deshir Ghatgumar, Taluka Secretary Kiran Gajbhiye, President Ashok Sonwane, Mahendra Wadkar, Sangeeta Gedam, Sunita Karhade, Vimal Bansod, Sarita Gedam, Sharda Katenge were prominently present.
In the campaign undertaken by the government to prevent the spread of Kovid-19 in the state of Maharashtra, Asha workers and group promoters have not only played an important role with very meagre remuneration, but 78 types of work of the health department are carried out by them. It is very irritating that they are not getting their honorarium for four months, said Mr. Vinod Zodge.
Now Asha worker is being pressured to prepare Abha cards. In spite of this, the Director of Health has decided to issue an order on 24th June 2022 to dismiss the Asha worker if they are found not doing their workers properly which is very wrong and injustice with the workers, said Mr. Zodge. He demanded that the said order be withdrawn soon and gave warning of a strong agitation across the state.
Asha workers and group promoters narrated their problems which included monthly amount of Rs 1000 of Incentive Farm under Arogya Vardhani outstanding since last several months be paid soon, increased salary should be given every month, Diwali bonus of Rs.5000 should be given every year, Corona incentive allowance should be paid soon, salary slip should be given every month, at least 24,000 salary for Asha and group promoter women, government employee status, social security, old age pension, be given etc.
A new executive committee was formed with Ms. Sangeeta Gedam as the President, Sunita Karhade, as Secretary and Com Vimal Bansod working president. The meeting was conducted by Sunita Karhade, introductory speech was given by Kiran Gajbhe and vote of thanks was proposed by Kachirbai Shahare.
