Gadchiroli Nov. 15 (District Correspondent) Alleging that her husband Manoj Rajurkar committed suicide due to harassment given by Newalkar couple over recovery of loan, the widow of deceased Manoj Ms. Jyotsna Rajurkar and other family members have demanded stern action against the said couple.
Addressing a press conference at the Press Club here on Monday afternoon, Ms. Rajurkar told that one Manoj Newalkar and his wife Meena Newalkar has been doing the business of giving loan. About five years back my husband Manoj had borrowed a loan of Rs. 16 lakhs from the Newalkar couple.
Even after repaying the loan amount along with interest, Newalkar couple were always harassing him for the recovery of the loan. Frustrated over this constant harassment, my husband finally committed suicide by jumping into a flooded river on Aug. 11 last, told Ms. Rajurkar.
I had lodged a complaint with the Gadchiroli Police Station seeking action against the Newalkar couple holding it responsible for the suicide. I had also sought action against the Newalkar couple for illegal business of money lending (Saokari), but the police have not taken any action against the said couple as yet and has been avoiding action, Ms. Rajurkar alleged.
If no action is taken against the couple, I will launch a hunger strike in front of the Police Station with my whole family, she warned. The family members were also present at the press conference along with Shiv Sena women’s wing district chief Ms. Chhayatai Kumbhare.
