Man sentenced to life imprisonment for raping minor girl.

Gadchiroli Dec. 16 (District Correspondent) The Special District and Sessions judge here has sentenced a man to the punishment of life imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 1 lakh for raping a minor girl.

Anil Bajirao Madavi (48), a resident of village Mohli in Dhanora taluka is the name of the convict.

According to prosecution, on Jan. 17, 2018, Anil had gone to the school of the girl to take her to her residence on the pretext that she was being called by her mother. His plan however did not succeed as the girl intimated this to her teacher and Anil left from the school.

After the school, the girl went to her residence and then went to a village tank to wash her clothes, Anil reached there and took her to a nearby farm by forcibly catching her hand and committed rape on her. When the grandmother of the girl was going to the farm, she saw the man upon which he ran away.

As the girl was returning her home with her clothes from the tank, Anil again stopped her and threatened to kill her if she narrated the incident to anybody. The girl however, narrated the matter to her mother on reaching home. The mother then lodged a complaint with the Dhanora Police Station.

Acting on this complaint, an offence under sections 376 (2) (1), 506 (2) and sections 4,6 of Protection of children against Sexual Offences was registered against Anil and he was arrested. A charge sheet into the case was submitted before the Court.

The Special District and Sessions Judge Uttam Mudholkar, after hearing the case, sentenced Anil to the punishment of life imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 1 lakh.

Adv. Anil Pradhan, district Govt. Pleader represented the state in this case. PSI Himmatrao Sargar and Police Inspector of Dhanora Vijay Puranik completed the investigation.
