
Gadchiroli April 19 (District Correspondent) Lt Col Vikram Mehta (Retd), Resident Director of Lloyds Metals and Energy Ltd, has been honoured with the prestigious Veterans Achievement Award by the Indian Army.
Army Commander, Southern Command, Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, AVSM, PVSM presented the award to Col Mehta at the Veterans Achievement Award ceremony held at Headquarters of Uttar Maharashtra and Gujarat Sub Area, Nagpur the other day.
Col Mehta was felicitated in recognition of his pivotal role in operationalising the Surjagad Iron Ore Mines under the visionary leadership of Mr. B. Prabhakaran, Managing Director, Lloyds Metals. His efforts helped bring peace and development to a once-Naxal-affected region.
Also awarded were Subedar Major Rushi Wanjari of Gondwana Sainik Vidyalaya, Gadchiroli (originally from Bhandara district), and Mr. Nilesh Vyas from Nagpur. Lt Col Mehta presented a copy of the Coffee Table Book on Gadchiroli, compiled under Mr. Prabhakaran’s leadership, and invited the Army Commander to witness the transformation on the ground.
Maj. Gen. Sanjay Kumar Vidyarthi, GOC, Sub Area, hosted the ceremony.
