Lloyds organizes workshops for teenaged school girls.

Gadchiroli Dec. 27 (District Correspondent) Lloyds Metals and Energy Ltd. in association with Surjagad and Trisharan Enlightenment Foundation, Pune had organized a workshop and counselling on ‘menstrual management’ at different schools in Etapalli taluka for the teenaged girls recently.

As many as 500 girl students participated in these workshops that were held at Government Secondary and Higher Secondary Girls Ashram School Todsa, Vinoba Bhave Ashram School Hedri, Zilla Parishad High School and Junior College, Etapalli and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Etapalli.

The participating teenaged girls were given free menstrual management counselling and training in these workshops. The students gave their spontaneous response to this highly sensitive and health- important workshop and learned information about their health.

In this workshop, the development ambassadors of the organization presented a street play that exposed the misconceptions, superstitions and traditions about menstruation. The students were also given a pictorial book on how to take care during menstruation period prepared by the organization to make teenage girls understand in a simple way and remove their misconceptions about menstruation.

Along with this, free sanitary napkins sufficient for 6 months were also distributed to the girls. On this occasion, the trainers of the institute encouraged the girls present to solve their problems. Also, the girls who were shy about this were asked to put up written questions and their doubts were cleared.

The workshop was inaugurated at Government Secondary and Higher Secondary Girls’ Ashram School, Todsa in Etapalli taluka at the hands of Mr. Ujwal Uke, retired Additional Chief Secretary and Supreme Court Committee member. Mr. Shubham Gupta, Sub-Divisional Officer and Assistant Collector, Etapalli, presided over the workshop.Ms. Pragya Waghmare, Managing Director, Trisharan Foundation was the chief guest.

The workshop held at Vinoba Bhave Ashram School was chaired by Dr. Gopal Roy, Medical Superintendent, Lloyds Energy Ltd. Surjagad. Mr. Baburao Dadas Sub-Divisional Police Officer Hedri, Mr. Prashant Waghmare, Project Manager, Sheetal Kamble, Divisional Manager, Trisharan Foundation, Sachin Kaleshwar Gadchiroli District Coordinator, Ms. Rachna Kamble, Pune District Coordinator were prominently present.

Ms. Archana Bankar Vikasdoot, Ms. Veerangana Naitam, Ms. Payal Kumbhare, Vikasdoot Trisharan Foundation Etapally, Principal of Vinoba Bhave Ashram School Headri  Imle Sir, Superintendent, Ms. Chhaya Srirame, Aarti Rathod,  Ashwini Harankhede, Prachi Bagde,  Pournima Shimpi, Saroj Kulmethe, Gayatri Karode, Umadevi Burade, Pranjali Shette, Ashwini Burade and others took pains for the success of the workshops.

The students have expressed satisfaction over the workshop saying it was very useful for them and many misconceptions were removed.
