Gadchiroli July 2 (District Correspondent) Ms. Kusum Alam, well known tribal litterateur was felicitated for her outstanding literary services at the Adiwasi Sahitya Sammelan held at Wani in Yaotmal district recently.
The organizing committee of Wani had unanimously selected Ms. Kusum Alam as the president of this literary conference and was honored by presenting her a shawl and bouquet besides a ten thousand rupees in cash.
Ms. Alam has been living in a remote area like Gadchiroli for many years and has been doing the work of social awareness by writing about tribals and women. She has worked to strengthen the women’s literary movement, that is why she has been chosen as the president of the Sahitya Sammelan, said the Convenor of this Sammelan.
Replying to her felicitation, Ms. Alam thanked the organizers for this honour saying it will encourage her more to do the literary and social work. On the one hand, both nature and humans are in crisis in the present situation. The rich history of tribals, their culture, language etc. are being distorted. We should be able to study the traces of our existence and bring it to the world, said Ms. Alam.
A large number of literature lovers and citizens attended this programme.
