‘Koya king and queen’, tribal culture modelling show held at Gadchiroli.

Gadchiroli Aug. 8 (District Correspondent) The ‘National level Koya King and Queen Culture Modelling’ show organized by National Adiwasi women’s Federation (Nari Shakti) at Sumanand Hall here evoked tremendous response from the fashion lovers. It was the first such fashion show organized in the district by the tribals for promoting the tribal culture.

The grand festival was inaugurated at the hands of Mr. Dharmarao Baba Atram, Minister for Food and Drugs Administration. Noted Marathi movie actress Trupti Bhoir, Gadchiroli MLA Dr. Deorao Holi, General Secretary of Maharashtra Congress Dr. Namdeo Kirsan, former ZP chief Bhagyashree Atram, former MLA Hariram Warkhede, women leader of NCP Shaheen Hakim, former civic chief Yogita Pipre, President of Adiwasi Employees Federation Bharat Yerme, Dy. Commissioner of Social Welfare Sachin Madavi, senior journalists Rohidas Raut, Anil Dhamode were the guests of honour.

Ms. Manisha Madavi, Chief Organizer of the show welcomed the guests and gave the details of the show.

As many as 62 contestants from different districts of Maharashtra and adjoining states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana dressed in colourful traditional tribal attire and costumes participated in this show and presented the unique tribal culture. During their ramp walk they presented different tribal traditions along with strongly worded dialogues and appeals to save the tribals, their culture together with the forest, water and land which the tribals have preserved for the centuries. The tunes of tribal songs and music and attractive lighting arrangements added colour to this memorable show.

The contestants were welcomed with the thunderous applause by the audience that had specially come to see the show. Beginning from the kids to the youths, both the boys and girls showed their skill in the show.

Ritu Maraskolhe was the winner in kids’ category, Vaishnavi Pendram became the first runner up and Vedika Katlam was the second runner up. In Mrs. category Kavita Meshram from Telangana won the prize while Sheetal Kadeti from Narkhed was the first runner up, Yogita Sadmek from Bhamragad was the second runner up. In Mr. category Nilesh Uike was the winner while Anup Manzi was the first runner up and Kanad Meshram was the second runner up. In Ms. category Achal Dhurwe as the winner while Jayshree Karangami and Priti Meshram were the first and second runner up respectively.

Also present on the occasion were Dr. Chanda Kodwate, Gulab Madavi, Amarsingh Gedam, Sadanand Taram, Madhao Gawad, Dr. Vivek Atram, Dr. Chetan Kowe, Dr. Sonal Kowe, Dr. sheetal Taram, Dr. Praveen kilnake, Dr. Shangonda, Gopal Uike and others.

Dr. Naresh Madavi, Marotrao Ichodkar, Suvarna Warkhade and Yashodhara Usendi were the judges of the show. Sagar Atram and Annapurna Meshram conducted the proceedings of the show. Ms. Jayshree Yerme, Laxmi Kannake, Jagdish Madavi, Khumendra Meshram, Sameer Bhaje, Sachin Meshram, Gautam Pundge and others took pains for the success of the show.

A large number of people attended the programme.
