Gadchiroli Feb. 21 (District correspondent) Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti was celebrated in Gondwana Sainiki Vidyalaya with a grand fervor.
Principal Mr. Sanjeev Gosavi presided over the program while Vice Principal Omprakash Sangrame, Supervisor Ajay Wankhede, Prof. Dr. Rakesh Chadgulwar, Prof. Gajanan Dhole, senior teacher Devendra Mhshakhetri, Shaheed Sheikh Prashant Mhshakhetri were prominently present.
After the lamp lighting, the Maharashtrian song ‘Jai Jai Maharashtra Majha’ was sung collectively by the students. The students also gave a speech on the life of Great Shivaji Maharaj.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Gosawi said Shivaji Maharaj had great vision. He thought about what can be done for Swarajya. He always thought about how it would be expanded. The forts built by him are a good example of this. These forts were so impregnable that the enemy had to think a thousand times while entering them. The fortification around the fort was strong.
With the foresight that the threat of the enemy could be from the water as well as from the land, he built the forts. Even today, Maharashtra is proud of this rich heritage. Guerrilla war was the main weapon of Shivaji Maharaj. Many campaigns and battles were won by Shivaji Maharaj by applying guerrilla tactics. No matter how huge the enemy’s army was, Shivaji Maharaj defeated it with the help of some mavlas. His entire work is so inspiring and thrilling that the modern generation should learn, Gosavi said.
The other guests also spoke on the occasion and threw light on the life of Shivaji Maharaj.
The entire program was conducted by Mr. Rahim Patel. All the teaching and non-teaching staff of the school was present besides large number of students.
MANS– District and City Branch of Maharashtra Andhasraddha Nirmulan Samiti also celebrated Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti. Glowing tributes were paid to the great warrior by garlanding his portrait on the occasion.
The programme was presided over by District Fund Manager Mr. Govindrao Bramhanwade. State Co-ordinator of Scientific Awareness Education Project Vilas Nimbokar, District Working President Vitthalrao Kothare, Principal Secretary Prof. Vilas Parkhi, senior functionaries Purushottam Chaudhary, Lahuji Ramteke, Vamanrao Bhoyer, Haridas Kotarange, Damodar Upparwar were prominently present.
