Gadchiroli March 24 (District Correspondent) Senior social worker and president of Sparsh Sanstha Dr. Dilip Barsagde participated in the G 20 meet held at Nagpur recently and delivered a lecture on gender equality.
The conference was chaired by the world-renowned spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi in which 225 delegates from 26 countries including G-20 countries participated.
Many eminent personalities across the world including Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi, Ah Maftuchan of Indonesia, Alexandra Nilo of Brazil, Swami Amrutaswaroopananda, Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini’s Dr. Vinay Sahastrabuddha, Martin Richards of the European Commission, Riccardo Moro of Italy, Pedro Boca of Brazil, Andy Carman of the United States, Jost Mank of Switzerland, Jadav Payang of Assam Nivedita Bhide of Vivekananda Kendra of Kanyakumari.
The conference was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and concluded by the Minister of Roads and Transport Nitin Gadkari.
C-20 is a group of civil society organizations. It was established in 2013 which gives recommendations to G 20 Group on various issues including social development, human rights and gender equality. The group works to promote the social and economic development of the world.
The coordination committee received about a thousand proposals from across the state for participation in the conference from whom representatives of selected organizations were selected. Dr. Dilip Barsagade was one who was selected for the conference and the backward Gadchiroli district got the representation in this prestigious Group which is a matter of pride for the district.
In the C-20 conference with the central concept of ‘Civil Society Contribution to Sustainable Development’, Dr. Barsagade delivered a lecture on gender equality and disability, human values and human development, water management and sustainability, changing communities, creating an environment conducive to democracy.
During the conference, Dr. Barsagde met the Nobel Laureate Social worker Kailash Satyarthi and discussed with him on the topic of policies for the children in the country.
