Dharna staged in Gadchiroli in support of Bharat Bandh.

Gadchiroli Feb. 16 (District Correspondent) A dharna agitation was staged by various political parties and workers unions today as a part of nationwide Bharat Bandh.  Samyuktu Kisan Morcha and Kamgar Kriti Samiti had called for a nationwide rural Bharat Bandh against the central government’s anti-public policies. In support of this Bandh dharna was staged.

The workers squatted in front of the Govt. Guest House on Dhanora Raod and shouted slogans in support of their demands. The dharna continued for about three hours in which hundreds of workers participated.

A meeting was held at the dharna site under the chairmanship of CPI State Council member Dr. Mahesh Kopulwar was. On this occasion Central Vice President of All India Republican Party Rohidas Raut, Leader of CPM Prof. Rameshchandra Dahiwade, District Secretary of Shetkari Kamgar Paksh Ramdas Jarate, District President of All India Republican Party Hansraj Undirwade, District Incharge of BRSP Raj Bansod, Jayashree Jarate,  Shamsunder Urade, Milind Bambole, ITUC Secretary  Devrao Chawale, Rajinikanth Motghare, Ramesh Chaudhary, Bharat Yerme, Javed Pathanm of Congress Party, Inderpal Gedam, Pramila Ramteke, Sanjay Koche of NCP,  Latif Pathan of Labor Union, District President of Adivasi Vikas Yuva Parishad Vinod Madavi, Dr. Sainath Kodape were mainly present.

The Bharatiya Janata Party government under the leadership of Narendra Modi is working against workers, farmers, farm laborers, small shopkeepers, unorganized workers. In order to benefit the capitalists, the voice of opposition is being suppressed. Therefore, the people should oust the BJP government in the upcoming elections to get justice, it was appealed by the leaders.

A memorandum addressed to the President of India was then submitted to the Additional collector Dhanaji Patil by a delegation. Agricultural produces should be given the guaranteed price as per Swaminathan Report, Swaminathan Commission should be implemented, farmers should be given complete loan waiver, sufficient power supply be provided for agriculture pumps, old pension be implemented for the employees, contractual employees be absorbed into the service, unorganized workers be paid at least 26000 rupees, pension scheme should be implemented for unorganized workers, farmers, agricultural laborers above 60 years of age, the move to destroy  the business of fishermen community by way of solar power projects on lakes, dams should be stopped immediately, pre-paid electricity meters should be cancelled were some of the major demands.

Akshay Kosankar, Shyamsundar Urade, Akash Atram, suraj Thakre of PWP, Ashok Khobragade, Pralhad Raipure, Narendra Raypure of the Republican Party, Prakash Khobragade, Dharmaraj Sorte of CPI, Satish Durgamwar, Pratik Dange of BRSP and others took pains for this agitation.
