C 60 jawans complete Shaheed Samman Yatra.

Gadchiroli Jan. 18 (District correspondent) The jawans of C 60 commando force, the anti naxal squad of the Gadchiroli Police, were accorded grand welcome by the police department here on their return from a 6,500 km long journey of ‘Shaheed Sanman Yatra’.

Gadchiroli SP nilotpal welcomed the jawans at Eklavya Hall in police head quarters by presenting them bouquets and shawls. Mr. Anuj Tare, Praveen Chinta, Yatish Deshmukh, Additional SPs, Pranil gilda, SDPO were prominently present.

The 5 jawans namely Kishor Khobragade, Rahul Jadhao, Rohit gongle, Ajinkya Ture and Dewanand Adole had started their journey on Dec. 25 last during which they toured different states including Madhya Pradesh, Gujrat and Rajasthan and visited many historical places including Longewala Post on Pakistan border and Tanotmata Temple in Rajasthan. The police officers in these places welcomed the jawans during the journey.

C 60 commando force consisting 60 jawans of the Gadchiroli Police was established on Dec. 1, 1990 to combat the naxals in the district. ‘Veerbhogya Vasundhara’ is the title name of this squad which is known for its performance all over the country by now. The squad has been fighting against the naxals braving various odds and geographical conditions.

The squad has bagged various awards including President’s Bravery medals for its outstanding performance. With a motive of introducing this bravery, dedication and sacrifice to the people and security forces across the country, this yatra was organized.

Last year these jawans had toured up to Ladakh and aim to tour east and west regions next year also, it has been informed by the police.
