Gadchiroli March 29 (District Correspondent) The birth anniversary of Ashoka the Great, the great ruler of Maurya Dynasty was celebrated by various social and political organizations in the city on Wednesday.
SAMYAK BUDDHA VIHAR— The programme was organized at Samyak Buddha Vihara in Gokulnagar jointly by bouddha Mahasbha, Samyak Samaj Samiti and vishakha Mahila Mandal.
Mr. Tularam Raut, District President of Bouddha Mahasabha presided over the programme while Prof. Rajan Borkar of Republican Party, Mr. Jagan Jambhulkar, Sunil Urade, Lahuji Ramteke, Moreshwar Ambade, Mr. Chandekar, retired PSI, Ms. Sumitra Raut, President and Manisha Walke, Secretary of Vishakha Mahila Mandal, Ms. Aruna Raut, Retired Teacher were prominently present.
The portraits of Lord Buddha, Samrat Ashoka and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar were garlanded by the guests and respectful tributes were paid to the great Emperor.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Tularam Raut said the symbols of Ashoka the Great like Ashok Chakra on the national flag, national emblem, Bharat Ratna award, Ashoka Hall in India’s Rashtrapati Bhavan depict the tradition of Buddhism and Emperor Ashoka. This shows how great was the Samrat Ashoka and every Indian should be proud of this.
Also present on the occasion were Bhagwan Bhaisare, Meghshyam Dhawle, Ms. Chandrakala Tembhurne, Shashikala Sahare, Damyanta Sahare and other office bearers of Bhartiya bouddha Mahasabha, Samyak Samaj Samiti, Vishakha Mahila Mandal.
ALL INDIA REPUBLICAN PARTY– Similar programme was organized at the district office of all India Republican Party, a portrait of Samrat Ashoka was garlanded by Mr. Rohidas Raut, Central vice President of the party. Mr. Hansraj Undirwade, District President, Prin. Prakash Dudhe, Vidarbha Vice President, Tularam Raut, District President of Bhartiya Bouddha Mahasabha, Prof. Rajan Borkar, Regional Secretary, Keshaorao Samrutwar, Regional Secretary, Ashok Khobragade, Office Secretary, Anil Barsagade, Gadchiroli city president, Ms. Neeta Sahare, District President, Jyoti Undirwade, General Secretary of District Mahila Aghadi, Wanmala Zade, President, Jyoti Chaudhari, Vice President of City Mahila Aghadi were prominently present.
All the office bearers also offered flowers to the portrait of Samrat Ashok and paid their respect to the great King. Also present on the occasion were Baburao Gowardhan, Jitendra Khandare, Ganesh Wanikar and others.
