Birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Shastriji celebrated by Congress workers.


Gadchiroli Oct. 3 (District Correspondent) The birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri was celebrated by District Congress Committee in its office here on Sunday morning.

District Congress Committee President Mahendra Bramhanwade and State General Secretary and District In-charge Dr. Namdev Kirsan garlanded the portraits of both the leaders and paid their respects to them. The other leaders also offered flowers to the portraits.

Senior leader Hasan Ali Gilani, City chief Satish vidhate, Samsherkhan Pathan, Shankarrao Salotkar,SC Cell chief  Rajnikant Motghare, OBC Cell President Pandurang Ghotekar, Kisan Cell President Vamanrao Savasakde, Rozgar Cell President Damdev Mandalwar, Working President Pushpalata Kumre, Scheduled Caste Women President Aparna Khewale, District Treasurer Prabhakar Wasekar, Netaji Gavture, Prabhakarrao Wasekar, Shaligram Vidhate, Kashinath Bhadke, I. B. Sheikh, Prabhakar Kubde, Abdul Panjwani, Rajaram Thackeray, Harbaji More and many other Congress workers were present on the occasion.

A poster of the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra which’ is reaching Maharashtra was also released on the occasion.

In the pre-independence period, India, which was occupied by various cultures and dialects, was connected through padayatra under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi and it was through that yatra freedom struggle of the country came to forefront. Now Bharat Jodo Padayatra has been started from Kanyakumari to Kashmir covering a distance of 3500 km under the leadership of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to create hate free India by connecting the society and India, said Mr. Bramhanwade while speaking on the occasion.

This padayatra will enter Nanded district in Maharashtra in the month of November and it will pass through Maharashtra for 16 days. Therefore, more than 5000 Congress leaders, workers and office bearers from Gadchiroli district should be present and comman citizens should also participate in this, he appealed.
