Gadchiroli Feb. 18 (District correspondent) The State Commission for Backward Classes has instructed the Gondwana University to fill in the vacant posts of Assistant Professors as per category wise reservation.

The members of the Commission visited the University on Friday and reviewed the recruitment process of the University and affiliated colleges.

Nagpur Division Joint Director, Higher Education, Dr. Sanjay Thackeray, Social Welfare Assistant Commissioner Amol Yavalikar, Manohar Pote  were present in this meeting.

The government has sanctioned as many as 2088 teacher posts in the universities and colleges in Maharashtra. These posts should be filled in immediately that is why review is being taken by the commission, it was informed. Category wise reservation as per government decision should be applied and its benefit should be given to all the caste categories, opined the members.

The purpose of the meeting is to pursue the policy of caste-wise reservation. The backlog of recruitment in Maharashtra from the point of view of NAAC  assessment of institutions should increase and students should get quality education, it is aimed, told the members.

If the vacant posts of professors are not filled, these posts will be sanctioned to other colleges, warned the members. Students should be encouraged to take advantage of Mahajyoti Scholarship scheme. Equality Cell should be established in the colleges which do not have such cells, it was instructed by the committee members.

Dr. Manish Uttarwar presented the progress of the University through power point presentation before the commission. In the last eleven years, the University has been progressing well and that is good in comparison with the other universities, said the members.

All the members of the commission were felicitated by Dr. Uttarwar by presenting them bouquets. Registrar Dr. Anil Heerekhan proposed the vote of thanks.
