Gadchiroli Aug. 23 (District Correspondent) Various Ambedkarite organizations of Gadchiroli city staged demonstrations at Indira Chowk this afternoon to demand that the teacher responsible for the death of a Dalit student in Rajasthan should be dismissed immediately and strict action should be taken against him.
The activists present in the agitation raised slogans condemning the incident. After protesting and sloganeering for about two hours, a delegation of activists met Additional Collector Dhanaji Patil and submitted him a written memorandum addressed to the Prime Minister of India.
A Dalit student named Indrapal Meghwal of Jalore district in Rajasthan was mercilessly beaten up by a teacher one Chhail Singh for taking drinking from the teacher’s pot. The student finally died due to this beating. Therefore, stringent action should be taken against this teacher and a case of murder should be registered against him, it was demanded in the memorandum. A financial assistance of at least 50 lakh rupees should be given to the family of the deceased and one of his family members should be given a government job, it was also demanded.
Mr. Rohidas Raut, central vice President of All Indian Republican Party, District President of PRP Munishwar Borkar, BRSP District President Milind Bambole, All India Republican Party District Secretary Hansraj Undirwade, Bharat Mukti Morcha District Convenor Janardhan Taksande, former corporator Gulab Madavi, ANIS leader Vilas Nimborkar, women leader Surekha Barsagde, Ashok Khobragade, Nita Sahare, Jyoti Undirwade, Narendra Raipure, Anil Barsagde, Nandkishore Bhaisare, Meghraj Raut, Sudhir Valde, Sukhdev Wasnik, Roshan Uke, Vanmala Zade, Jyoti Chaudhary, Madhuri Shambharkar, Meghraj Raut, Sudhir Valde, Pratima Karame , Darshana Shende Vanita Bambole, Pramod Bambole, Archana Khewle, Pradip Bhaisare, Anandrao Kangale, Bhimrao Shende, Nagsen Khobagde and many others participated in the agitation.
Similar demonstrations were held at various other places in the district including Desaiganj, Armori, Korchi, Aheri etc. The workers of different political parties and social organizations submitted the memorandums to the respective Tehsildars condemning the incident and demanded stern action against the said teacher.
At Korchi Giridhari Jambhule, Shalikram Karade, Vinod Chahare, Chandrashekhar Ambade, Nila Kannake, Buddhelal Sakhre, Sanjay Chaudhari and others presented the memorandum to Naib Tehsildar Mahananda Madavi. At Desaiganj many workers including Er. Vijay Meshram, Ashok Bodele, Vijay Bansod, Naresh Meshram, Pavan Gedam, Maroti Jambhulkar, Dakram Waghmare, bhimrao Nagrale and many others were present during the demonstrations that were held in front of the SDO office.
