Gadchiroli Aug. 11 (District Correspondent) Jan Adhikar Manch, a social organization of the city has demanded with the Gondwana University here that admission be given to the students from Manipur state who have been displaced due to violence going on in the state for the last over three months.
A delegation of Manch office bearers met the Pro Vice Chancellor of the university Dr. Shriram Kawle under the leadership of Rohidas Raut, social worker and Chief convenor of the Manch and submitted him a memorandum in this regard.
Thousands of students from Manipur state have left their homes and have been displaced because of the violence going on there for the last over three months. These students have lost their education which is an irreparable loss to their academic career. This loss needs to be compensated immediately as it is a national loss, pointed out the memorandum and strongly demanded that some of the students should be accommodated in the Gondwana University along with their residential facilities.
The members of the delegation then also called on the Registrar of the University Dr. Anil Hirekhan and discussed the issue with him too. Both the officers assured them to discuss the matter with the Vice Chancellor and other statutory councils of the University and take an appropriate action in this regard.
