Gadchiroli Nov. 22 (District Correspondent) ‘The digital media has emerged in the present times because the traditional media has lost the faith of the comman people. People want to get the true and instant information that is why they have turned towards the digital media and its viewership has increased’.

This was stated by Adv. Firdos Mirza, well known lawyer and President of Digital Media Publishers and News Portal Grievances Council of India (DMPNPGCI) while addressing a presidential speech at the convention of the representatives of the digital media recently.

The two-day residential convention was organized at Elgar Pratishthan campus at Chitegaon in Mul taluka the other day.

Adv. Anand Deshpande, Adv. Dr. Kalyan Kumar, lawyers of the Nagpur High Court, Adv. Paromita Goswami, social worker, Jitendra Chordiya, President of Digital Media Association, Rohidas Raut, senior journalist were prominently present on the occasion.

In his thought-provoking speech Adv. Mirza dwelt on the history of journalism in India said that news is not a part of entertainment. People are hungry of information and that is being fulfilled by the digital media. Now this media has kept aside the main stream media. A digital revolution is coming and players of the digital media should keep positive approach and work with updates to make this media platform more effective, he advised.

The other guests also expressed their views on the occasion and highlighted the importance of digital media. Mr. Jitendra Chordiya made an introductory speech and gave the details of the convention. Mr. Vijay siddhawar conducted the programme and proposed the vote of thanks.

In the next sessions that followed many experts on digital media and journalism guided the participants on variety of subjects. They included Mr. Deonath Gandate, digital media expert, Rajesh Yesankar, DIO, Anand Ambekar, senior journalist, Adv. Farhat Baig, senior lawyer, Ashish Ambade of Z 14  Tass, Prashant Wighneshwar of Nav Rashtra and Amit Welhekar of ETV.

A large number of editors of the news portals and digital media attended the convention.
