5 Etapalli tribal youths booked for playing song on Naxal commander Hidma.

Gadchiroli May 9 (District Correspondent) Etapalli Police in the district  have registered a case against five tribal youths from Krushnar village for allegedly playing songs praising deceased Naxal commander Madvi Hidma and dancing to DJ music during a wedding ceremony.

This is the first such case registered in Gadchiroli district against tribal youths for allegedly glorifying Hidma, and the second such incident in the state, first having been registered in Pune against the students.

The accused have been identified as Shankar Hidami, Baburao Kando, Chetu Telami, Aryan Hidami, and Sharad Kando, all residents of Krushnar village in Etapalli taluka.

According to the information received, a wedding was being held at the house of one Sandeep Hidami in Krushnar village on May 6 last. Late at night, some youths and young women were dancing to songs played on a DJ when Police Inspector Machhindra Nagargoje, reached Krushnar village while on patrol duty along with his staff. The police allegedly heard songs related to Hidma being played loudly on the DJ.

On the second day, a video clip based on the life of Maoist leader Madvi Hidma was shared on social media in which 40 to 50 young men and women were seen dancing to the song “Hamare Haq Ki Jung Hai Hidma, Dil Ki Basti Mein Hai Hidma.” To investigate the matter, a police team again visited the house of Sandeep Hichami.

Police have registered case against the five youths for allegedly playing songs praising and glorifying Maoists at a wedding ceremony under Sections 197(1)(d), 353(1)(b), 223, 3(5) along with Sections 192, 197, 37(1)(3), and 135 of the Mumbai Police Act.

This is the second such incident in the state where cases have been registered for dancing to songs based on the life of Naxal commander Madvi Hidma. Earlier, police had filed cases against two students from a government hostel in Pune -Kiran Gomase and Shrinivas Kumre for playing songs related to Hidma during a program held on the birth anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. Both the students were residents of Gadchiroli district and were studying in Pune. Following that incident, police have now registered cases against five youths in this latest matter.
