
Gadchiroli Oct. 11 (District Correspondent) Tribals in the district will take out a morcha on Oct. 15 next on the collectorate to demand that Banjar community should not be included in Scheduled Tribes, state government’s plan to lease tribal land to non-tribals, reserving of nagar panchayat presidents in pesa area for the tribals and other demands.
This was informed by Dr. Dewaji Tofa, senior tribal leader in a press conference here this afternoon.
The morcha will start from the grounds of Shivaji Mahavidyalaya on Dhanora road and will proceed to the collector’s office through main roads where a memorandum will be submitted to the district collector. Around 25,000 tribals will participate in the morcha, told Tofa.
The other demands raised are the 12500 posts on which bogus tribals were appointed be filled in by taking up a special campaign, PESA be implemented strictly and no decision on land, water and forest be taken without the consent of the gram sabhas, Mana community be included in OBC and SBC category as earlier, Ashram School students be provided facilities as earlier and DBT scheme be stopped, supreme court decision of sub classification should not be executed, schedule V be strictly implemented, Gondi language be included in schedule VIII etc.
If the state government does not resolve these demands, the tribals will approach the court, warned Mr. Tofa. Also present at the press conference were Dr. Namdeo Usendi, former MLA, Adv. Vishwajeet Kowase, secretary of national youth congress, Adv. Lalsu Nogoti, former ZP member, Prashant Madavi of Gondwana Gantantra Party, Gulab Madavi, Kunal Kowe, Anand Kangale, Sadanand Taram, Amol Kulmethe, Sonu Alam, Malta Pudo, Vidya Duga, vilas Narote and others.
