Gadchiroli Aug. 22 (District Correspondent) Former MP and National General Secretary of BJP Scheduled Tribes Morcha Dr. Ashok Nete has demanded that the city of Gadchiroli be developed as the smart city.

Mr. Nete met the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and submitted him a memorandum in this regard recently. Gadchiroli is the district headquarters and is developing rapidly as an administrative, educational and commercial centre. However, the lack of modern infrastructure creates difficulties for the citizens. Hence smart transport system (signal system, cycle track, parking management), digital facilities (public Wi-Fi, e-governance, CCTV should be installed, he demanded.

He further demanded that water and energy management like smart meters, solar energy, rainwater harvesting, environmental initiatives of sanitation, parks, greenery, smart facilities in the health and education sector such as e-health centre, digital classroom etc be provided.

Mr. Nete also demanded that reconstruction of Ashti-Mulchera-Alapalli State Highway with 55 km length be constructed as the condition of the road has become very miserable due to heavy rains and increasing traffic,

Furthermore, Mr. Nete has demanded that the 700-year-old Shiva temple at village Kalled in Aheri taluka should be declared a tourist site. This temple, located in a scenic cave, remains moist with spring water throughout the year. Thousands of devotees come here on Mahashivratri. However, due to the lack of basic facilities like drinking water, toilets, roads, lighting and rest houses, devotees have to face great inconvenience. Therefore, the temple should be given the status of a tourist site.
