World Tribals Day celebrated with enthusiasm in Gadchiroli.

Gadchiroli Aug. 10 (District Correspondent) The ‘International Day of the World’s Indigenous People’ was celebrated here jointly by All India Adiwasi Employees Federation and various tribal organizations in an atmosphere of zeal and enthusiasm on Saturday.

A grand procession was taken out from Baburao Madavi Chouk on Dhanora road after garlanding the portrait of late tribal leader Mr. Baburao Madavi. Gadchiroli MLA Dr. Milind Narote, Vidarbha Working President of Adiwasi vikas Parishad Ghanshyam Madavi, senior leader of Adiwasi employees Federation Madhavrao Gawad, Amarsingh Gedam, Sadanand Taram, tribal youth leader, Kunal Kowe, were prominently present.

The procession then proceeded to the Sanskriti Lawn on Armori road with the tribal youths dancing on the tunes of DJ music and shouting slogans like Jai Sewa, Adiwasi Din Zindabad etc. Some of the youths had dressed themselves in the costumes of the great tribal revolutionaries while some were holding traditional tribal flags in their hands to mark the occasion.

The entire city had a look of festival and quite an enthusiasm was seen among the tribal youths since the morning.

A tribal flag was hoisted at the proposed site of Adiwasi Samajik Bhavan at the hands of Mr. Anand Kangale and Santosh Kunjam. The ‘saptarangi flags of the tribal culture were also hoisted at Gotul Bhumi, Birsa Munda Chouk and Gondiyan Dharma Sthal near ITI to mark the Tribals Day.

The procession then culminated into a grand public meeting that was organized at Sanskriti Bhavan under the chairmanship of Ms. Pushpatai Kumre, Vice President of Tribal Officers Forum. Mr. Vijay Wadettiwar, Congress Legislative Party leader, Dr. Namdeo Kirsan, MP, Dr. Namdeo Usendi, former MLA, Vasantrao Kulsange, senior tribal activist, Adv. Vishwajeet Kowase, national secretary of Youth Congress, Mahendra Bramhanwade, Congress chief, Dr. Sachin Madavi, Assistant commissioner of Social Welfare, Gulabrao Madavi, were prominently present in the meeting.

Attractive tribal dances were presented and meritorious students were felicitated in this meeting. The leaders then addressed the gathering calling upon them to get more organized and fight for the rights of the tribals.

A large number of tribals of the city and different parts of the district attended the programme. Adiwasi Vidyarthi Sangha, Adiwasi Halba-Halbi Samaj, Baburao Madavi Smarak Samiti, National Adiwasi Mahila Federation, Jango Raytad Mahila Sangathana, Veer Baburao Smarak Samiti, Adiwasi Yuwa Ekta Parishad, Adiwasi gotul Samiti and various other tribal organizations participated in the programme.
