Gadchiroli Aug. 9 (District Correspondent) Mr. Punyawan Sorte, Sarpanch of village Sakhra near here has been honoured with the state level ‘Gram Ratna Sarpancha’ award for his outstanding performance.
The Panchayat Raj Vikas Manch and Akhil Bhartiya Sarpancha Parishad jointly presented this award to Mr. Sorte in a programme held at Lonawla recently at the hands of Mr. Shrimant Kokate, well known historian and Mr. Jayant Patil, founder president of the Sarpancha Parishad.
Mr. Sorte was presented a shawl, certificate of honour and a plant at the hands of the guests in recognition of his work.
Mr. Punyawan Sorte was elected as a Sarpancha of Sakhra village panchayat around five years back and has taken up various developmental and public welfare activities in the village such as pure drinking water, cleanliness of village, effective implementation of government schemes, awareness among the villagers, maintaining law and order situation in the village etc.
The villagers, panchayat members as well as friends and well wishers of Mr. Sorte have congratulated him on this award.
