Gadchiroli April 12 (District Correspondent) ‘For the welfare of the backward classes and to ensure the rights of the exploited and victimized classes that have been guaranteed by the Constitution, the ‘Independent Labour Union’ (ILU) has been working in the country continuously’, said the national president of the Union, J. S. Patil, while addressing a district level rally of the teachers.
The rally was organized by the district unit of ILU the auditorium of Samidha College of Civil Services here the other day.
The rally was presided over by Mr. Devanand Fulzhele, District President of the Independent Labour Union. Mr. Rohidas Raut, senior journalist, Gautam Meshram, General Secretary of the Union, State President of the Independent Teachers’ Union Sunil Teltumbde, State General Secretary Rajendra Gedam, District Joint Secretary Tularam Raut, Shailesh Washimkar, were prominently present.
Mr. Patil further said that teachers should work by maintaining social responsibility by accepting the membership of the Independent Workers’ Union, a national-level trade union affiliated to the Independent Labour Union and fight for their rights.
The Independent Labour Union has been established as per the labour policy of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and this union has been working for the past several years to fight against injustice against workers and employees, said J S Patil on this occasion.
Mr. Rohidas Raut said that there is a need for the social activists and working class in the society to jointly fight against the unjust policies and oppressive measures of the government. The Independent Labour Union should become a platform of a movement to safeguard the constitutional rights of every citizen, he opined.
State President Sunil Teltumbde elaborated on the role of the Independent Labour Union and appealed to all the teachers to participate in this union in large numbers in the larger interest of the teachers and other working class.
Mr. Devanand Fulzele appealed to the teachers to mix up with the people at village level where they work and help to bring them into the mainstream of development.
The introduction was made by District General Secretary Gautam Meshram and he explained the role of the independent labour union and also told the history of the labour movement.
The program was conducted by the district organizer, Bandubhau Khobragade and Mr. Rishi Dongre presented the vote of thanks. Teachers from various parts of Gadchiroli district attended the gathering in large numbers.
