Community Outreach Programme of GU PGTD held at Bhamragad.

Gadchiroli April 10 (District Correspondent) The Community Outreach Program (CoP) was organized by the Post Graduate Teaching Department of English and Tribal Study Center at Bhamragad recently.

The two-day program provided students with a unique opportunity to engage with tribal literature, cultural heritage, and community development initiatives, fostering a deeper understanding of social responsibility.

The inaugural session was addressed by Mr. Dadaji Kusram, a renowned tribal poet who spoke about the importance of preserving indigenous narratives and oral traditions. He encouraged students to explore tribal literature as a vital medium of cultural expression and social consciousness. The session was attended by Principal Dr. Hemraj Lad and Prof. Vivek Joshi, Head of PGTD English.

The participants visited the Triveni Sangam in Bhamragad, a confluence of the three rivers. The students attended a session with Dr. Prakash Amte at Lok Biradari Prakalp, Hemalkasa. Dr. Amte shared his experiences of working in the fields of healthcare, education, and rural empowerment, inspiring students to engage in meaningful community service.

The students visited the Lok Biradari Prakalp, where they observed the various social welfare initiatives undertaken for the upliftment of tribal communities.

The program also featured a joint session between the participants and the students of Raje Vishveshwarrao College, Bhamragad. Principal Dr. Hemeaj Lad and faculty members of the college were present. Prof. Vivek Joshi guided students on the role of literature and community engagement in shaping a responsible society.

Dr. Shilpa Athawale led an interactive discussion on the linguistic diversity of tribal communities and its impact on regional literature. Dr. Vaibhav Masram and Dr. Pramod Jaware contributed valuable insights on sustainable development and education in tribal regions.

Prof. Atul Gavaskar proposed the vote of thanks.
