
Gadchiroli Feb. 27 (District Correspondent) Art gives happiness to people and teaches them to live. It enriches life. Everyone has some kind of art and keeping that art alive is not only the job of the artist but of all of the society. Art is an effective medium of social enlightenment, said Padma Shri Dr. Parashuram Khune.
He was speaking as a special guest at the prize distribution program of the annual cultural and art festival of Shri Govindrao Munghate Arts and Science College, Kurkheda the other day.
The program was presided over by the President of Dandakaranya Institute Dr. Rajabhau Munghate, while the Vice Principal P. S. Khope, Head of the Cultural Department, Dr. Hemant Meshram, Student Representative Rakesh Uike, Vaibhav Dakhne, were present as the chief guests.
Dr. Parashuram Khune was honoured with a shawl by Dr. Rajabhau Munghate. Dr. Sanjay Mahajan and Dr. Pamesh Dani were honoured for securing first place in the badminton contest in the Gondwana University, Ratnakar Wasekar was honoured for securing first place in the running contest.
Books written by Dr. Deepak Bansod based on the curriculum of Gondwana University were released by the hands of the dignitaries.
Dr. Khune further said hundreds of theatre troupes are working in the forest areas. Through these troupes, art is alive. Social problems should be reflected through drama. Stating that social awareness should be created through art. Students can become excellent artists by participating in various competitions without any inferiority complex, fear or shame, he stated.
Principal Dr. Rajabhau Munghate said that since not all the students should participate in the competition without getting tired. Art does not allow an artist to sit idle. We should learn some good art and by acquiring proficiency in it, earn the reputation of our parents and the village, he adviced.
Prizes were distributed to the winners of various contests held during the festival. Rakesh Uike, a student of the college, was honoured as the best college student.
The report of the program was read by Dr. Hemraj Meshram, Dr. Narendra Arekar, Divya Gaikwad, conducted the programme and Kirti Pendram proposed the vote of thanks. To make the program a success, Prof. Hemlata Urade, Dr. Sanjay Mahajan, Dr. Amit Ramteke, Dr. Sandeep Khatange, Dr. Deepak Bansod, Prof. Tripta Wakde, Prof. Dhanraj Lanje, Prof. Nikesh Lokhande, Prof. Madavi, Prof. Balbudhe, Suhani Sayam and all the faculty members cooperated.
