Mr. Suresh Saokar, Rohidas Raut and others paying tributes to Veer Baburao Shedmake.

Gadchiroli Oct. 24 (District Correspondent) The Martyrdom Day of Veer Baburao Shedmake, a great freedom fighter and tribal revolutionary, was observed at Veer Baburao Memorial here on Monday.

Gadchiroli’s first civic president Suresh Savkar Poreddiwar presided over the program. Senior journalist Rohidas Raut, Vilas Nimborkar of Anti-Superstition Committee, social activist Surekhatai Barsagade and Abaji Gedam were present as chief guests.

Initially, floral tributes were paid to the memorial of Veer Baburao Shedmake by the guests. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Poreddiwar spoke about the importance of Veer Baburao’s revolutionary work and said that it is necessary to bring his life story to common people so that they could get inspiration from this great fighter who sacrificed his life for the country.

Rohidas Raut said that the history of tribal revolutionaries has been ignored till date. It is really good that Veer Baburao Memorial Committee has been carrying forward the history of this revolutionary for the last some years. There should be a proper memorial of Veer Baburao Shedmake, he added.

Mr. Vasantrao Kulasange, founder president of Veer Baburao Smarak Samiti, in his introductory speech gave information about Baburao’s revolutionary work and how he fought against the British Army for tribal rights and the freedom movement.

Mr. Vilas Nimbokar conducted the program and Buddhabhushan Kulasange gave vote of thanks. Mr. Manohar Alampatlavar, Laxmanrao Kowe, Tarabai Gedam, Pournima Kulasange, Harshvardhan Kulasange were present in this program besides othres.
