Gadchiroli Sept. 19 (District Correspondent) Muktipath Village Association, with the cooperation of Ghot Police, Forest Department destroyed 3 mahua liquor furnaces, 10 sacks and 2 drums of rotten mahua flowers worth Rs. 1.40 lakhs at village Narendrapur in Chamorshi taluka.

A case has been registered against three people in this case. Gram Panchayat Committee has taken up a campaign to teach a lesson to the liquor sellers. Seven vendors were active in this village and liquor was being supplied to retailers in other villages. Various activities are being implemented by the Muktipath village organization to implement liquor ban in the village.

Information was received that some vendors of the village were distilling alcohol by burning hand furnaces in the forest area. Based on that, Ghot Police, Forest Department, Village Association, Gram Panchayat Committee and Muktipath team conducted a joint search operation. During this search, 3 hand furnaces came to notice. On the spot, 10 sacks and 2 drums of mahua flowers were seized along with valuables worth Rs 1 lakh 4 thousand. A case was registered against three liquor sellers at the Ghot Police Help Centre. Also, due to the fear of this action, wholesale and retail liquor sellers in the village have fled the village.

This action was taken by Police Amaldar Dulal Mandal, Police Constable Saikrupa Murkute under the guidance of Officer-in-Charge of Police Help Centre Gohne. Tantamukt President Mahesh Bishwas, Gram Panchayat Member Saroj Tarafdar, Forest Department’s Shankar Gedam, Dilip Yagantiwar, Santosh Raut, Youth Members Kishor Kundu, Laxmikant Mandal, Biren Tarafdar, Kamal Vishwas, Vishwajit Vishwas, Anand Ingle of Muktipath, Anand Sidam, Vinod Pande and others participated in the drive.
