Gadchiroli Sept. 14 (District Correspondent) Various women and social organizations in the district have demanded that immediate measures be taken to curb the growing violence against women and give security.

A delegation of the activists met the District Collector Sanjay Daine and submitted him a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

There is an increase in the incidents of violence against women in the country and the state. Similarly, the issue of women’s safety has also been increased in Gadchiroli district and the incidents of rape and sexual abuse of women are increasing day by day, it was pointed out.

The incident of disappearance of women in Gadchiroli district is a matter of concern. To deal with such incidents, Special Action Program for women should be taken up in remote tribal areas, separate complaint cell should be opened in police stations, women safety awareness activities should be implemented by Women and Child Welfare Department, Committees comprising all government employees at Village Panchayat level, Police Patil, Sarpanchas, members and prominent citizens of the village, students should be formed and its meetings be held once every three months, it was demanded.

Senior social worker Pratibha Choudhari, Mahila Rajsatta Andolan district coordinator Jyoti Meshram, Archana Janganwar, senior poetess and Congress leader Kusumtai Alam, Sunita Usendi, Ms. Aarti Kangale, Upendra Rohankar Siddharth Khobragade, Haridas Kotarange of ANIS were present in this delegation.
