Gadchiroli Sept. 13 (District Correspondent) The 18th Foundation Day of the 192 battalion of the Central Reserve Police force (CRPF) was celebrated at its headquarters here on Thursday under the guidance of Mr. Parvinder Singh, Commandant and under the chairmanship of Mr. Narendra Kumar, Second Command Officer of the Battalion.
First of all, the Commandant paid tribute to the martyred soldiers of the battalion at the ‘Shaheed Smarak’ located in the camp and told the soldiers about the sacrifice of the martyred soldiers of 192 Battalion and the establishment of the battalion and its deployment in Gadchiroli. He extended heartfelt wishes of the battalion’s foundation day to all the officers, soldiers and their family members.
192 Battalion was established on Sept. 12, 2007 at Group Centre-2, CRPF, Ajmer by Mr. B.S. Gujral, Commandant. After receiving basic training, the battalion was deployed to fight the terrorism spread in Anantnag (Jammu & Kashmir) after 4 weeks of pre-induction training at Army Corps Battle School, Doda (Jammu & Kashmir). On Aug. 15, 2009, the battalion was deployed in Gadchiroli to stop Naxalite activities, it was informed.
In the last 17 years, this battalion has actively participated in the action against Naxalites in Gadchiroli. Due to hard work and efforts of its officers and soldiers it has achieved countless successes and for these works, the battalion has received a total of 1873 medals and decorations as follows: –
President’s Police Medal for Gallantry 02, Police Medal for Meritorious Service, Ati. Utkrisht Seva Padak, Utkrisht Seva Padak, Antarik Suraksha Seva Padak etc.
To mark the 18th Foundation Day of the battalion, sports competition and cultural programmes were also organized.
