Gadchiroli Jan. 11 (District Correspondent) Gadchiroli Nagar Parishad Chief Officer Suryakant Pidoorkar today gave a clear assurance to the delegation of the All-India Republican Party and slum dwellers that high-mast solar lights would soon be installed in the Shivnagar slum located on Chamorshi Road here. The Republican Party workers have claimed that this is the outcome of their long agitation for the hutment area.

Since last 14-15 yearspoor and below poverty line people have been living in Shivnagar slum area, by constructing small huts and earning their livelihood by doing wage labour work. However, due to the lack of basic facilities like roads, drains, electricity, drinking water etc. in this slum, the residents have been facing a lot of difficulties. The Republican Party has been demanding that all these problems be solved immediately.

Today also, with all these problems a delegation of the party met the Chief Officer of the Municipal Council under the leadership of Mr. Rohidas Raut, Central Vice President of the party and submitted him a written memorandum regarding these problems to him and discussed them in detail. Realizing the seriousness of the situation, the Chief Officer assured to install high mast solar lights in the Shivnagar slum immediately and also instructed the concerned engineer about this.

On this occasion, the Chief Officer also assured the delegation that action will be taken soon regarding other facilities and gave instructions to the concerned employees.

Republican Party District President Hansraj Undirwade, Office Secretary Ashok Khobragade, Youth Aghadi President Narendra Raipure, Slum workers Naresh Valke, Sukhdev Bawane, Avinash Atram, Manoj Alam, Bhaurao Thorat, Geeta Kodap, Lalita Harshe, Bharti Kodape, Kavita Dok, Meena in this delegation. Meshram, Nirmala Arjunkar, Suhani Meshram, Kalpana Tekam, Mangala Meshram, Geeta Tekam, Shobha Kolte, Lata Tekam and other slum dwellers were present on the occasion.
