Kunbi community takes out huge morcha, opposes OBC status to Marathas.

Gadchiroli Oct. 5 (District correspondent) Kunbi Samaj Sewa Samiti took out a huge morcha on the collectorate here this afternoon to oppose inclusion of Maratha community into OBC category and issuing Kunbi certificates to Marathas. ‘Kunbi Jaat amchya hakkachi, nahi kunachya bapachi’ was the slogan of this morcha that attracted the attention of the citizens as it was very huge in the recent history of the district.

The morcha started from Shivaji Mahavidyalaya on Dhanora Road and proceeded to the collectorate winding through the main road and walking around 5 kilometres of distance. On reaching the collectors office, a delegation of the leaders met the District Collector and submitted him a memorandum of demands.

Even the school boys and elderly men and women also participated in this morcha. Many political leaders had made the arrangement of drinking water and refreshment for the participants on the route.

The other demands in the memorandum included caste wise census of OBCs be conducted on the lines of Bihar state, reservation of OBCs in PESA areas of 12 districts of Maharashtra has been brought to zero and injustice has been done with the OBCs. This injustice should be removed, reservation of OBCs in Gadchiroli district in recruiting class 3 and class 4 posts be raised to 19 percent as earlier.

The memorandum also demanded that the decision of contractisation of the government jobs and recruitment through outsourcing be withdrawn, government schools should not be handed over to private companies, 72 hostels sanctioned for the OBCs in the state should be started soon and the students who could not get admissions be applied Swadhar scheme, recommendations of Swaminathan commission be implemented, paddy be given per quintal rate of Rs. 4,000, Kunbi community be given relaxation under Atrocities Act, students of Kunbi community be given scholarship for the foreign education.

The leaders of the Kunbi Sewa Samiti and political parties addressed the morcha after it reached the collectorate. They strongly opposed the Marathas to be given reservation from the OBC category. The leaders also opposed the recent government decision of handing over govt. schools to private companies and recruitment through outsourcing and demanded immediate withdrawal of the decisions.

Various political parties including BJP, Congress, Nationalist Congress Party and many social organizations of OBCs had extended their support to this morcha and also participated in it.

Prof. sheshrao Yelekar, National Vice President of OBC Mahasangha, Adv. Sanjay Thakre, Satish Viddate, Dhanpal Misar, Ajay Londhe, Ratnadeep Mashakhetri, Prabhakar Bhagadkar, Sanjay Ghotekar and many others were in the front of the morcha.

Former Minister Anil Deshmukh, MLA Subhash Dhote, MLA Pratibhatai Dhanorkar, MLA Abhijit Vanjari, MLA Sudhakar Adbale, MLA Krishna Gajbe, Former MLA Parinay Phuke, Former MLA Dr. Avinash Warjurkar, MPCC General Secretary Dr. Namdev Kirsan, District Congress committee chief Mahendra Brahmanwade, District BJP chief Prashant Waghre, District NCP chief Atul Ganyarpawar, Vishwajit Kowase, Manohar Poretti visited the morcha and extended their full support to it.
