Gadchiroli March 8 (District Correspondent) The festival of holi was celebrated by the district branch of Maha ANIS by distributing ‘Puran Polis’ among the age old inmates of the Matoshree Vriddhashrama here on Sunday.
Every year, the workers of Maha Anis along with their like-minded organizations, feed the Puran Poli to the needy people in Gadchiroli city instead of offering it to the fire as is traditionally done.
The program was organized in the presence of Dr. Shivnath Kumbhare, President of All India Gurudev Seva Mandal. Giving good wishes to everyone on the occasion of Holi, Dr. Kumbhare said that it is a matter of great joy that all the workers are celebrating the festival of Holi by donating Puran Poli to the age old and homeless citizens.
Many saints have told us not to burn wood during the Holi, but to collect the waste material from the locality and burn it along with the anger and hatred among us. The same principles are followed by Maharashtra Andhasraddha Nirmulan Samiti and the like-minded organizations a is a very good thing that should be appreciated, he said. It is really sad that the people are forgetting the message of the saints and destroying the environment, he added.
Besides the workers of Maharashtra Superstition Eradication Committee, Akhil Bharatiya Gurudev Seva Mandal and Cycle Snehi Mandal were present in this program. On this occasion Mr. Pandit Pudke, Vilas Nimborkar, Purushottam Thackeray, Vitthalrao Kothare, Prof. Vilas Parkhi, Prof. Bhaskar Narule, Damodhar Upparwar, Upendra Rohankar, Haridas Kotarange, Aditi Upparwar, Arvind Rajgade, Vasudev Kothare, Shankar Kothare, Ms. Varsha Rajgade, Avani Rajgade and other activists were present.
