Gadchiroli March 7 (District Correspondent) The Gadchiroli police have finally registered an offence against the two retired police officers Mr. Vinod Patole and Damdeo Mandalwar and three other persons on the complaint of Dr. Pramod Salve, State Secretary of Congress Doctors Cell. Vinod Patole is also the brother of Congress state president Nana Patole while Mandalwar is the office bearer of the Gadchiroli District Congress Committee.
Patole, Mandalwar and others have been booked under sections 341, 143, 504, 506 of the Indian Penal Code at Gadchiroli Police Station on charges of wrongful restraining and giving a threat of life to Dr. Salve. The other accused are Sumit Kothari from Nagpur, Chhagan Shedmake from Armori and one unidentified person.
According to the complaint of Dr. Salwe, there was an oral deal of a Rice Mill of village Katezari with Patole. As Patole did not complete the deal even after its limit was expired, the said deal was cancelled by Dr. Salwe through a legal notice.
Enraged over this, Patole, along with Mandalwar and three others stopped his car near village Bodli on Chatgaon Gadchiroli road and tried to abduct him on March 3 last. The group also threatened to kill Salwe before he managed to escape from the spot somehow.
Dr. Salwe had lodged a complaint of the incident with the Gadchiroli Police Station the same day. The police had started enquiry into the matter. Finally, after recording the statements of the persons involved, offence was registered against Patole, Mandalwar and others.
Further investigations into the matter are being conducted by the PSO Arvindkumar Katlam. As bothe the accused and the complainants are the political heavy weights, the matter is being hotly discussed in the district and further developments are awaited.
