The youths trained in disaster management

Gadchiroli Feb. 11 (District Correspondent) A training of disaster management was imparted to as many as 300 youths in the district by National Disaster Management Authority New Delhi and District Disaster Management Authority recently.

The youths of the village in the taluka as well as Nehru Yuva Kendra who were willing to work in disaster management were given this training. A total of 300 youth volunteers were selected for this residential training program that was conducted at Government Science College in four batches.

All the trainees were trained on the different topics by disaster management experts which included DRR Terminology, Disasters, Emergencies, Hazards, Types of Disasters, Disaster and Emergency Management, Cycle Framework,  Institutional Mechanisms, Incident Response System, Role and Responsibilities of Disaster Mitigation and Future Framework,  climate change,  earthquake, landslide, flood tsunami, cyclone, lightning, drought, heat waves, first aid, definitions, roles and responsibilities of community assessment, artificial respiration techniques, choking, emergency lifting and moving procedures, fire safety, forest and farm fire hydrants and other advance mechanisms, Nuclear, Biological, Chemical Disasters, Community Assessment, Crowd Management, Human Body Systems, Bandages, Stretcher, Fire demonstration, PPE suit and other suit operation, Wounds, Bleeding, Fracture, Burns and scalds, Animals, Insects, Snakes biting, River Crossing, Field Visit, Flood Practice, Rope Rescue, First Aid Practice Session,  Search and Rescue practice session etc.

Volunteers from disaster prone talukas and villages of Gadchiroli district which mainly includes Sironcha, Bhamragarh, Aheri, Armori, Wadsa, Gadchiroli, Chamorshi talukas and others have been trained. Rs. 5 lakh insurance for 3 years for all disaster friends from the government will be given to the youths.

Identity cards for disaster management work were issued by Collector office to all disaster friends, certificates, disaster kits were also provided. There are 59 girls and 241 boys in total 300 among the trainees. Disaster Friends Official list has been published on the website of Gadchiroli district. Also, taluka wise list has been sent to all tehsildars.

The said disaster friends were supposed to act as a link between the citizens of the disaster-prone villages as well as the administration
