Gondwana VC assures cancellation of Didolkar's name

Gadchiroli Jan. 28 (District Correspondent)  The three day long hunger strike of tribal activist Vasantrao Kulsange was today withdrawn after the vice Chancellor of the Gondwana University promised in writing that the resolution of university senate to name RSS leader Dattaji Didolkar to Gondwana University has been stayed and a proposed to cancel this resolution will be placed in the next meeting of the Senate.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Prashant Bokare personally visited the hunger strike pandal today at 3 pm and handed over the letter in this regard to Mr. Kulasange. The VC then ended his fast by giving him lemon water.
On this occasion the Registrar of the Gondwana University Dr. Anil Hirekhan, Central Vice President of the Republican Party Rohidas Raut, Dr. Dilip Barsagde, BRSP in-charge Raj Bansod, RPI’s Hansraj Undirwade, Gadchiroli PSO Arvind Kumar Katlam, Sadananda Taram of Adiwasi Employees Federation, Madhavrao Gawa, leader of Tribal Employees’ Association
Kunal Kovey of Tribal Youth Council were mainly present.
As the Gondwana University  Auditorium was named after Dattaji Didolkar, many tribals
Dalit and Bahujan organizations as well as political parties of the district strongly opposed it. The protest against this naming was also going on from Chandrapur, Amravati, Yavatmal, Nagpur districts also.

Meanwhile, tribal activist Vasant Kulasange started indefinite hunger strike from January 26 in front of the main entrance of the university. The fast also received massive support from various sections of the society. Leaders of many political and social organizations and members of the Senate visited the hunger strike pandal from the very first day itself and declared their support.
In view of the strong opposition to Didolkar’s name, finally the vice-chancellor of the university Dr. Bokare visited the hunger strike pandal this afternoon and gave a written assurance to all the workers to cancel the naming resolution. He also offered lemon water to Mr. Kulsange to mark the end of the hunger strike.
Also present on the occasion were Ms. Pratibha Chaudhary of Mali Samaj Sangathana, Pradeep Bhaisare, Sainath Pungati, Nagsen Khobragade, Prateek Dange, Namdev Usendi,
Poornima Kulasange, Vasudev Kodape, Harshavardhan Kulsange, Vinod Madavi, Shobha Khobragade, Dhanshyam Khobragade, Buddhabhushan Kulsange Lankesh Madavi, Hemant Sahare, David Pendram, Badalshah Madavi, Neeta Sahare, Vanmala Zade, Ashok Khobragade, Kavita Khobragade and many other activists of the different social and political organizations.
