Gadchiroli Dec. 29 (District correspondent) ‘Gazal directly connects to your heart and that is why it is liked by everyone’, opined Mr. Bhimrao Panchale, well known Gazal singer while interacting with the media persons in a ‘meet the press’ programme.

The Gadchiroli Press Club had organized this programme the other day when Mr. Panchale was in the city for his show which was organized by Dandakaranya Shikshan Sanstha.

At the outset, Manoj Tajne, President and other members of the Press Club welcomed Mr. Panchale by presenting him a bouquet and shawl.

Mr. Panchale, who has completed 50 years of his Gazal shows (mehfil) is known world over for his Marathi gazals unfolded many issues related with the Marathi gazals during the informal discussion with the press persons. This was second visit to the city of Gadchiroli for the gazal show.

Every singing has its own speciality. Lawni can’t been sung like a bhajan and bhajan can’t be sung like lawni. Gazal gives stress on the words and that is why it becomes more effective and reaches to the very heart of the listeners, Panchale said.

When asked about the neo gazal composers, the gazal maestro said that new writers also can compose healthy gazals. However, he gave a word of caution to these composers to avoid hurry. Thoughts should be allowed to start in your mind and then it should be brought on the paper. Then only gazals will touch your heart, he stated.

Mr. Panchale who has toured over 20 countries including America, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Dubai, etc also threw light on the journey of gazal saying gazals entered into Hindi and then many other Indian languages. Earlie, people used to ask questions about gazals in Marathi, now they respond spontaneously and this is a real poetic justice. Such a popular place gazals have got now, he exclaimed. Noted poet Suresh Bhat is the pioneer of the Marathi gazal, he pointed out.

Marathi gazals have become popular because of the support and love of the listeners and the media, he mentioned. Mr. Panchale also presented his favourite gazal ‘swas gazal- niswas gazal, jaganyacha vishwas gazal’ on the occasion, before he proceeded for his mehfil.

Mr. Milind Umre, Press Club Secretary proposed the vote of thanks. All the members of the Gadchiroli Press Club were present during the meet.
