Gadchiroli Aug. 29 (District Correspondent) A person who committed rape on her own niece and then threatened to kill her has been sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 1.75 lakhs by the Additional district and Sessions Judge Uttam Mudholkar.

According to prosecution, on June 10, 2019, a 15-year-old victim girl had gone to her aunt’s house to Bhamragad to celebrate the Dussera festival. The uncle of the girl one Dallu Madavi (33), his 3-year-old daughter and 1 year old son were present at the house that time.

On the second day, the aunt of the girl went to her school at village Zarewada along with her son and the victim girl was alone at the home. When she was watching TV sitting on the cot in the afternoon, the accused went near her tied her mouth with a scarf and committed rape on her forcibly. He also warned the girl to kill her if she narrated the incident to anybody.

The girl however narrated the entire incident to her parents and aunt. On knowing the incident, her parents took her to Bhamragad Police Station and lodged the complaint. Accordingly, the police registered an offence under section 376 (3) and 506 of the Indian Penal Code and arrested the accused on June 12, 2019.

After detailed investigations and finding substantial evidences, the charge sheet of the case was filed to the district court by the police. On hearing the case, Additional district and Sessions Judge Uttam Mudholkar sentenced the punishment of 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 1.70 lakhs to the accused. It was also ordered by the judge to pay the amount of fine to the victim girl for her rehabilitation and medical expenses.

Adv. Anil Pradhan, District Government Pleader represented the state in this case. PSI Suraj Susatkar of Bhamragad Police Station conducted the investigations.
