Gadchiroli Feb. 8 (District correspondent) Mr. Shrimant Surpam, President of Markandeshwar Multi-Purpose Educated Unemployed Development Society has demanded that the recruitment for the posts of Assistant Professors at the Gondwana University should be cancelled immediately as not a single post has been reserved for the Scheduled Tribes in this recruitment.

Mr. Surpam has submitted a memorandum to the Vice Chancellor of the University in this regard in which he has said that Gondwana University has announced a recruitment process for  total of 30 posts as Assistant Professors in different subjects including E-Graphics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science,  Applied Economics,  Marathi,  MBA,  Mass Communication etc.

These posts they include SC-1, VJ(A)-1, NT(C)-2, NT(D)-1, SBC-1, OBC-9, EWS-3, and OPEN-9 but does not include a single post for the category of the scheduled tribes.  This is an injustice upon the ST category as it is deprived of its constitutional right of reservation, said Mr. Surpam.

This advertisement and the recruitment of professors should therefore be cancelled as no seat has been reserved for ST candidates, he has demanded. He has also demanded that the recruitment should be made as per subject-wise reservation.

The copies of the memorandum have been sent to State Governor Bhagatsingh Koshyari, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Higher and Technical Education Minister, Secretary Higher Technical Education Department Mumbai and other authorities demanding early action on the issue.
