
Gadchiroli March 29 (District Correspondent) The illicit liquor worth Rs. 15, 60, 194 that was seized by the Gadchiroli Police Station was destroyed by the police on Friday.
During the prohibition period liquor is transported illegally which is seized by the police time to time and strict action is taken against those selling liquor as per the orders of Superintendent of Police, Nilotpal. Since the seized items in the cases registered at various posts are perishable, it becomes difficult to preserve the pending items for a long time due to lack of space. Hence, the liquor seized under the Maharashtra Liquor Prohibition Act in a total of 87 cases registered at Post Gadchiroli were destroyed.
With the permission of the Court and Superintendent of State Excise, Police Inspector of Gadchiroli Revchand Singanjude, PSI Chandan Bhagat and K. Chaudhary, destroyed the seized materials. This includes 14027 plastic bottles of 90 ml of domestic liquor, 55 plastic bottles of 2000 ml of foreign liquor, 29 glass bottles of 750 ml of foreign liquor, 71 glass bottles of 375 ml of foreign liquor, 709 glass bottles of 180 ml of foreign liquor, 49 glass bottles of 90 ml of foreign liquor, 9 glass bottles of 650 ml of beer, 287 tin cans of 500 ml of beer, totalling Rs. 15,60,194
These bottles were buried in 15 feet deep pit after the waste material was crushed with the help of a road roller.
The said action was carried out under the guidance of the Superintendent of Police Mr. Nilotpal, Additional SP (Campaign) Yatish Deshmukh, Additional SP (Administration) M. Ramesh and the SDPO Suraj Jagtap by the Officer-in-Charge of Gadchiroli Revchand Singanjude and Hawaldar Chandrabhan Madavi.
