Revolutionary work of Veer Baburao should be honored-Rohidas Raut.

Gadchiroli March 18 (District Correspondent) The revolutionary work of Veer Baburao is very inspiring but it is very regrettable that this hero has not been adequately honoured, regretted Mr. Rohidas Raut, Central Vice President of the All-India Republican Party.

He was speaking as the chief guest at Veer Baburao Shedmake Jayanti programme organized by the tribals at village Mahawada (Mohli) in Dhanora taluka the other day.

Senior tribal worker Charandas Pendam presided over the program while former vice president of Zilla Parishad Manohar Patil Poretti, senior leader Narayan Pungati, former chairman of Panchayat Samiti Kalpana Wadde, Adv. Dilip Madavi, Prashant Madavi of Gondwana Gantantra Party, Sandeep Warkhede, tribal writer Ganesh Halami, Ramchandra Katenge, Principal of ZP High School Dinkar Narote, Hansraj Undirwade of Republican Party, Tularam Raut of Buddhist Mahasabha, Pradeep Bhaisare, Kalidas Raut, Ms. Mamta Hichami, Vijay Gedam  were prominently present as the guests of honour.

Rohidas Raut further said that many tribal warriors of India have sacrificed their lives for freedom struggle and protection of water, forest and land. Their true history must be brought before the whole world. Tribal society is still far from development and is victim of injustice and oppression. He also appealed to the tribals to come forward and fight to stop this.

Mr. Manohar Poretti pointed out that the coming future will be very serious for the tribal groups. The government is looting the forest protected by tribals in the name of industry, he stated and asserted the need to raise the voice against this.

In his presidential address, Mr. Pendam elaborated on the revolutionary work of Veer Baburao Shedamke and appealed to bring his work and thoughts to as many people as possible. He said that it is a matter of pride that the tribal community erected a statue of Veer Baburao in a small village like Mahawada.

At the outset, a procession was taken out from the village and the statue of Veer Baburao was garlanded at the hands of the guests. A tribal dance contest was organized in the night in which many groups participated.

On this occasion, the officers and employees of Mahawada who performed remarkable work were publicly felicitated on behalf of the villagers. Children performed attractive dances during the program.

Tribal dance competition was held at night. Cash prizes were awarded to the winning contestants. The program was introduced by Ghanshyam Madavi, moderated by Vinod Halami and vote of thanks was proposed by Vilas Wadde. A large number of local people attended the event.
