Gadchiroli March 15 (District correspondent) Former District Incharge Minister Raje Ambrishrao Maharaj had organized a grand mass marriage ceremony on the historic Hocky Ground of Aheri recently to mark the 190th birth anniversary of Veer Baburao Shedmake, the freedom fighter who sacrificed his life for the country.

Mr. Dharmarao Baba Atram, MLA,presided over the programme while Ms. Roza Karpet, President of Nagar Panchayat, Prakash Gudelliwar, Bablu Hakim, Shaheen Hakim, Rahul Kalate, Ramesh Halami, PSO Manbhav, Ravi Nelkudri, Amol gudelliwar were prominently present as the chief guests.

As many as 61 tribal couples from different villages in Aheri Assembly area participated in this ceremony and got married in presence of their relatives and the people of the area. All the newly wedded couples were given different useful household and utility material which included mangal sutras, saris, clothes, ceiling fans, utensils and various other items by Ambrishrao Maharaj on the occasion.

Raje Ambrishrao extended his best wishes to the tribal couples for their happy married life and assured them necessary help in the future too. Mass marriage ceremony is the need of the hour to save money, time and energy and the tribal community should come forward and solemnize their marriages in such ceremonies, he appealed.

The mass marriages also help the people to come together and exchange their ideas which is very much needed in the present times as people very rarely remain connected to each other due to their routine work, Raje Ambrishrao further said. More such ceremonies will be organized further also, he assured.

The other guests also spoke on the occasion and extended their best wishes to the couples.

The puja of newly raised ‘Salla Gangra, a tribal religious memorial was performed and was dedicated to public at the hands of Raje Ambrishrao on the occasion. A large number of people from throughout the Aheri Assembly area attended the programme. All the necessary arrangement for the couples and the people attending the ceremony was made by Raje Ambrishrao.

Also present on the occasion were Pitambar Kudmethe, Vikas Uike, Dashrath Koret, Sanjay Uike, Vikas Todsam and the office bearers Jay Presapen Gond Samaj Bahu Uddeshiya Mandal Aheri.
