Gadchiroli Dec. 20 (District Correspondent) A new police station was opened at village Tumarkothi located just 2 km from the Chhattisgarh border, under Hedri sub-division by the Gadchiroli Police Force on Friday. This police station will be a milestone for the security and overall development of the citizens in this extremely remote area, it is expected.

Towards the end of 2024, a new police outpost was established at Pengunda followed by another police station at Nelgunda on January 30, 2025. Another new police station was opened at Kavande in the same area on March 9, 2025, and a new police outpost at Phulnar Camp Gundurwahi on November 23, 2025, thereby instilling a sense of security among the citizens of these extremely remote areas.

A large contingent of the Gadchiroli Police Force was deployed for the construction of this police station. With the help of a total of 1050 personnel, 4 JCBs, 7 trailers, 2 excavators, and 25 trucks, the police station was constructed in just one day. ​​

The police station is being equipped with facilities for the police force, including Wi-Fi, 12 porta cabins, a generator shed, an RO plant for drinking water, a mobile tower, toilet facilities, a fortified wall for post security, BP posts, and 8 sandbag bunkers.

For the security of the police station, 2 officers and 52 constables from the Gadchiroli Police Force, 2 platoons from SRPF Group 12, Hingoli E Company, and CRPF 191 Battalion have been deployed. One Assistant Commandant and 79 officers-personnel from F Company, along with 8 teams (200 commandos) of the Special Operations Team, have been deployed.

During the inauguration program, a public awareness meeting was organized, and various items were distributed to the citizens present from the police station area. These included sarees and slippers for women; buckets, blankets, cooking utensil sets, and mosquito nets for men; lower pants, t-shirts, notebooks, pens, school bags, compasses, chocolates, and biscuits for the youth; and cricket bats, balls, cricket stump sets, volleyball nets, and volleyballs for children.

It was also stated that due to the increased security, it will be possible to construct new roads and start bus services in this extremely remote area in the future. The citizens expressed their satisfaction and gratitude towards the police administration for the establishment of the new police station in this remote region.

Ramesh, Additional SP (Administration) Gokul Raj G., Deputy Commandant CRPF Chanchal Parwana, Assistant SP Dhanora Aniket Hirde, SDPO  Bhamragad Amar Mohite, SDPO Hedri  Yogesh Ranjankar, and the newly appointed officer-in-charge of Tumarkothi Police Station, PSI Gorakhnath Surase.
