Gadchiroli Feb. 2 (District Correspondent) Former Chairman of Bhamragad Panchayat Samiti Sukhram Madavi (45) was murdered by the Naxalites at village Kiyar in Bhamragad taluka early this morning. His body was found lying outside the village this morning.
The incident has spread quite a sensation in area. Madavi was the resident of village Kiyar and was the Chairman of the Bhamragad Panchayat samiti between 2017-19. He was also the Dy. Chairman of the Panchayat Samiti and was quite influential in the area.
According to information given by the police, Madavi was strangulated today early morning leading to his death. The naxals left a pamphlet found near the body of deceased Madavi in which they have alleged that he was a police informer and has helped police department to open up new police camps like Pengunda in the area and was providing information to the police.
Village Kiyar is around 12 kilometers away from the taluka head quarters of Bhamragad under Kothi Police Assistance Center. The Naxalites dashed to the residence of Madavi last night and took him out at some distance, beat him up heavily and then strangulated his throat in which Madavi died.
Though the Naxalites have claimed the deceased was a police informer, police have denied this. The violent activities of the naxals had stopped for the last few years, but the outlaws have once again shown their presence through this murder and have spread terror among the people.
It should be mentioned here that the district police have opened two police stations in the area very recently including the one at Pengunda on Jan. 30 last.
The anti naxal operations have been intensified in the area following this incident. The investigations into the case is on.
